If you're planning your fieldtrip to PMOA, please be mindful that all Hands on History programs are docent led and subject to volunteer availability. Reserved program dates will appear listed on the calendar below. Pioneer Days

October 7 & 8

Demonstrators: Blacksmithing, Woodworking, Coopering, Basket Weaving, Spinning, Weaving, Quilting, Smocking, Corn shuck doll making, Woodstove Cooking, Butter Churning, Smokehouse cooking and more!

Re-enactors: Davy Crockett, Wild West Show, Civil War, Spanish American War, French Indian War, and much more!

  • Students will take a step back in time into the pages of their history book!
  • Fantastic learning opportunity concentrating on Alabama history!

Additional Information:

  • Cost per student and chaperone is $10.00.
  • Admission is free for teachers and bus drivers.
  • Museum is offering to pay a portion of the cost for the school's bus mileage & bus driver's fee. Please call or email for more information.
  • Schools are welcome to bring lunches and eat on-site in our picnic area. We will also have food vendors on site for students who wish to purchase their lunch/ snacks here.
  • Lunch times will be on a scheduled rotation to accomodate mutiple groups.
  • Normal time spent at the event is 3 hours, but the museum is willing to work within the school's timetable.
